Practice, Practice, Practice
Allows clinicians to practice renal angioplasty and stenting procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of renal artery stenosis, using either a retrograde brachial or an antegrade femoral approach. The module cases present various stenosis locations, orientations and pathologies of the renal arteries, including an FMD patient.
Learning Objectives:
- To practice safe imaging of the stenosis using fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, and road-mapping in the correct projection
- To practice renal cannulation using femoral or brachial access approaches
- To experience a variety of guidewires and catheter head shapes for renal cannulation
- To practice the measurement of trans-stenotic pressure gradient
- To practice intraprocedural administration of anticoagulation drugs
- To practice positioning and deployment of an embolic protection device
- To practice proper sizing, positioning, and inflation of an angioplasty balloon and balloon-expandable stent
