Florida hunters have added incentive in trying to gauge the age of the deer they hunt. Kent Hughes, who hunts primarily on private land says, "it's important to know the age of the deer if you want bigger and larger bucks, it's better to kill a five or six year old deer than a three or four year old deer because the young buck is going to actively produce more deer."
While hunting public land it may be hard to pass the young buck, but keep in mind that waiting for his grandpa may improve your future hunts.
