This Aquapac pouch fits snug around a Blackberry. Aquapac protects against rain, spray and dirt, but is not recommended for submersion.
With smart phones that cost as much as computers, it's cringe-worthy to see videos or hear stories of cell phones falling in the drink. As a monetary comparison, it's like wadding up a few “Benjamins” and burning them in a campfire. The truth is cellphone companies don't replace your phone unless it's a manufacturing issue, and because of that, many anglers have their own stories of when they killed their cell phone on a fishing trip.
That's why a host of companies now produce waterproof covers specifically for Droids, Blackberries, iPhones or other smart phones. The list is long and varied, but the end product can be hard, soft or even a pouch cover.
Considerations: Make sure the cover does not hinder the use of the phone on the water. Also, understand what the cover protects against. Many companies specifically say that the phone should not be submerged with the cover on. Other companies do have covers that protect against water submersion.
There is an easy way to test your cellphone cover to determine if it's still waterproof, explains Florida Sportsman member Cookinman. “Just remember to periodically test it by stuffing some toilet paper in there and submerging it for a few minutes. Wet toilet paper will alert you to any breaches.”
