Ol'DirtyCaster, “I clean my fly lines with the tears of bait fishermen, and keep them well lubed with oil made from the rendered fat of their young."
Keeping your fly line clean and lubricated will make the difference in your casting and catching. There are a lot of products out there to help you keep your line clean and in shape to fish, FS member Beyondhelp came up with his own creative way of getting the job done quickly and pain free. “ I rigged up the reel below (to the left) to remove and clean fly lines. Makes a huge difference to me when casting and I need all the help I can get. All it is is an electric cord winder zip tied to a board. The tape is just to grab the end of the line. The reel seat is what's left of an old rod I had. The string creates a much larger arbor so it takes fewer revolutions to wind. I got the idea from someone who made one with pool noodles in the holes.”
