Lisa Everett Wins
The Billfish Foundation 2011 Top Lady Angler
At the TBF Awards Ceremony in Miami February 16, 20122, Mrs. Lisa Everett of Nags Head NC was awarded TBF's coveted Top Lady Angler for 2011, which is given to the female member who catches and releases the greatest number of billfish. Achieving this award is, indeed, a great accomplishment! Lisa caught and released sailfish and blue marlin in Guatemala with Captains Brad Philips and Eddie Bairez, and Atlantic sailfish in Stuart Florida, with her releases including 30 Pacific Sails, 2 Atlantic Sails and 2 Blue Marlin.
Over her many years billfishing, Lisa has always been a passionate marine conservationist, starting with her first billfish, a White Marlin, when she was just age 12. But, her passion for billfishing really came to the fore when she met her husband to be, Clint, who together made the PCCA tournament rounds.
Lisa currently serves as President-Elect/First Vice President of the IWFA (International Women's fishing Association), one of the world's most prestigious women's fishing organizations. The organization was formed in 1955, and has grown into a dedicated group of women anglers who share their love for fishing. The IWFA embodies stewardship of the environment, protection of the oceans resources and has established the IWFA Scholarship Trust. Over 200 scholarships have been awarded, which provide aid to marine science graduate students, endeavoring to contribute to the education of future generations.
