The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will hold a public workshop in Clewiston to discuss possible boating-restricted-area changes for the Okeechobee Waterway in Hendry County.
The amendments to rule 68D-24.011, Florida Administrative Code, are proposed to expand the existing idle-speed, no-wake zone in the Okeechobee Waterway by 300 feet to better protect boat loading and unloading at the Hoover Dike Road City Ramp. Other proposed amendments include updating the rule maps and other minor technical changes to the rule language.
The workshop will be on Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the John Boy Auditorium, 1200 South W.C. Owens Ave. in Clewiston.
To obtain copies of the meeting agenda prior to the workshop, visit MyFWC.com/Boating and look up “Workshops” under the heading “Waterway Management.” Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
Anyone requiring special accommodations to participate in the workshop should advise the FWC at least five days before the meeting by contacting the FWC's Office of Human Resources at 850-488-6411. If you are hearing- or speech-impaired, contact the FWC using the Florida Relay Service at 800-955-8771 (TDD) or 800-955-8770 (voice).
