Chris, Bryan and Jeff Rodger had the hunt of a lifetime, when three longbeards came into the Northeast Florida field where they were set up. They were hunting private land on the second Saturday of the Spring Turkey season.
Thinking their morning was spoiled when a noisy coyote charged Chris just after setting up, they were surprised 30 minutes later to see three Toms half trotting, half strutting to their decoys.
Moments later, three birds were on the ground and the Rodger boys, looking at one another, realized they just had a hunt of a lifetime. Chris' bird was 20 pounds with a 9 5/8-inch beard. The other two were 18.5 pounds each and had 9 1/4-inch beards.
