Hunter Safety Courses in September

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a number of free hunter safety courses around the state in coming weeks. The hunter safety course is required for people born on or after June 1, 1975, to purchase a Florida hunting license. The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

Leon County:

The class is in the second-floor conference room of the Farris Bryant Building, 620 S. Meridian St., Tallahassee. Instruction is from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 11, 13, 18 and 20. The range portion of the class is Sept. 22.

An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 at all times. Students are encouraged to bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

Wakulla County
(Internet completion course):

The course is at the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office's Otter Creek Range, 65 Qualify Lane, Crawfordville, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15.

To gain admittance, students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course. The final report form does not have to be notarized.

An adult must accompany children under 16 years of age at all times. Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

Okaloosa County:

The course is at the Okaloosa County Extension Office, 127 NW Hollywood Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach. Instruction is from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10, 11, 12 and 13. The range portion of the class will be Sept. 15 from 8 to 11 a.m.

An adult must accompany children under age 16 at all times. Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.
